- Treating trauma, including mid-facial and frontal sinus injuries.
- Placing dental implants, including bone and soft tissue grafting to achieve a functional dental implant restoration.
- Pre-prosthetic surgery, including skin grafts and various osteotomy procedures to achieve the appropriate support for removable and fixed prostheses.
- Orthognathic and craniofacial surgery, including diagnostic skills and follow-up care.
- Diagnosis and treatment of pathology, including its reconstruction.
- Management of medically ill oral and maxillofacial surgery patients
- Ambulatory oral and maxillofacial surgery with outpatient sedation and general anesthesia.
- Diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint problems, including pathologic conditions and acquired deformities, including total joint reconstruction, arthroscopy, and arthrocentesis.
- The treatment of cosmetic deformities, which includes face-lift, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, and other traditional cosmetic surgical procedures. In this part of their training they have experience doing these procedures, but may need further training to achieve competency. The residents assist the faculty in their cosmetic surgeries and with appropriate staffing, perform procedures on patients.
- The excision of benign and malignant tumors and reconstruction in the head and neck area.
